Academic departments of Hospitality and Tourism are highly complex organisations which are expected to deliver excellence in education, job placement and research. Balancing these demands with economic realities, changes in visitor behaviour and expectation, and rapid advances in technology pose significant challenges which academic leaders must face on a daily basis. At present, a further dimension is not only being added by the internationalisation of the hospitality sector and job placements. It is also being supplemented by the proliferation of cross-border education and research collaboration.
With these challenges in mind, the organizing committee has identified three conference tracks under the theme of “The Way Forward: Hospitality and Tourism Education Convergence with Industry 4.0”:
Track 1: The New Education Frameworks: Paradigm Shift in Hospitality and Tourism Curriculum Development
Track 2: The New Service Standards: Rise of Artificial Intelligence in Hospitality and Tourism Industry
Track 3: The New Foreign Partnerships: Advancement of Hospitality and Tourism Academic Collaborations and Internationalization at Home
Track 4: The New Global Rankings: Growing Importance of Hospitality and Tourism International Accreditations and Benchmarking
Industry Panel Discussion: The New Top Salaries: Minimum Wage and Employability Issues in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry
By bringing together senior leaders from hospitality schools, tourism and leisure management as well as other important thought leaders around these themes; the Summit provides a platform for the sharing of new ideas and best practices, as well as a unique opportunity for networking and dialogue.
The aim of the Summit is to foster a shared understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing hospitality and leisure management education and to begin articulating a practical vision for moving hospitality schools forward.
The successful management of the above mentioned areas is the key to a department’s long-term success, including its performance in the QS World Rankings by Subject.
Organised in collaboration with UCSI University and held in Kuching, Malaysia, the Summit is also the perfect venue to expand and strengthen your personal and institutional network with other departments and key industry researchers from Malaysia, ASEAN and beyond.
