Welcome Message

It is my great pleasure to invite you to the 2017 QS Subject Focus Summit on Language , Literature and Culture, which will be held in The Westin Chosun Hotel Grand Ballroom from July 5th – 7th 2017 in Seoul, South Korea. The Summit is jointly organised by QS Asia and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS).

Since its establishment in 1954, HUFS has continued to foster creative experts by educating and nurturing global mindset for the international stage; who can contribute to world peace and the exchange of diverse educational cultures. Moreover, as a distinctive university based on foreign languages, HUFS teaches 45 major languages of Asia, Europe, the Middle East and other regions of the world, combined with interdisciplinary studies in the humanities, social sciences, business, natural and computer sciences.

The collective efforts of all faculty, students and staff have contributed to outstanding achievements of the College in research and academic performance. HUFS is ranked top 1st in Korea both in the category of Universities without Medical School and internationalisation in 2016 QS Asian University Rankings.

In this global era, the key to resolving international global disputes and conflicts is restoration of study of the humanities, particularly in such areas as languages, literatures, and cultures. By bringing together esteemed scholars along with the government officials and higher education professionals, this summit aims to explore ways of cooperation and exchange in order to discuss interdisciplinary studies in the humanities. I strongly believe that the summit provides a platform to share profound insight and unique ideas, as well as an opportunity for dialogue and networking.

Your participation and contribution at this summit will lead to a fruitful discussion of humanities-related issues.

We look forward to seeing you at the Summit.
