The QS Subject Focus Summit on Language , Literature and Culture (LLC) brings together for the first time academics, senior higher education administrators and non-university public and private sector stakeholders around the topic of LLC higher education. This group of professionals, who are at the nexus of research, education and policy making, are the thought leaders and change makers of this broad and deeply socially embedded academic field.
By providing a focused yet global forum for networking and the sharing of ideas, the Summit fosters a renewed and deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing LLC higher education, and the strategies needed to capitalise on the rapid changes that are occurring in this ever more important group of academic disciplines.
Under the theme of “Translation and Trans-Nation: Language , Literature and Culture”, the Organising Committee has identified a number of distinct yet complimentary tracks that succinctly address the most significant leadership challenges for LLC departments at universities, and which delve into the unique role LLC higher education is playing in the regeneration of the Silk Road, connecting Europe to Asia.
These tracks provide a unique opportunity to benchmark one’s own institutional practices against that of leading peers. Key trends of LLC disciplines becoming an increasingly popular “minor”, “elective” or “second major”, graduate employability and the role of LLC research and education in reconnecting Europe to Asia via the historic Silk Road feature prominently, among other topics. Successfully managing these trends is the key to an LLC department’s long-term success, including its performance in the QS World Rankings by Subject.
Organised in collaboration with Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS), and held in Seoul, South Korea, the Summit is also the perfect venue to expand and strengthen your personal and institutional network in South Korea, Asia and beyond.
